Presscloud vs Prezly Find journalists or bring your own network?

These two PR platforms differ a lot. Prezly ships no journalist database at all: you bring your own contacts and manage them in a strong CRM with branded newsrooms. Presscloud does ship that database, 15,000 journalists in the Netherlands and Belgium, and 80,000 worldwide, with AI that builds your press list from it. Which approach fits you?

The fundamental difference

Two philosophies on media contacts

Presscloud: database + AI + your own CRM

  • Assumes most companies do not know which journalists are relevant and/or do not have their details on hand
  • A database of 15,000 NL/BE journalists in every plan (80,000 worldwide, incl. US & UK).
  • The AI Perslijsten tool can then automatically build a list based on your press release.
  • You can manage your own contacts and relationships without limit in Presscloud's PR CRM, so you are not limited to the bundled database.

Prezly: bring your own contacts

  • Prezly says it does not believe in bought media databases: according to the platform, you build relationships yourself.
  • The platform is a PR CRM and newsroom tool for teams that already have a network.
  • Up to 5,000 of your own contacts on Essential and 10,000 on Standard.
  • A good fit for an established brand with years of press relationships.

In short

When does each one fit?

Presscloud probably fits better when…

  • you do not (yet) have your own media network and want to find journalists rather than bring them;
  • you focus on Dutch and Belgian media, but also want the option to expand internationally;
  • you want keyword monitoring and AI writing help in the same plan.

Prezly probably fits better when…

  • you are an established (international) brand with your own, up-to-date contact list;
  • multilingual newsrooms with automatic translation and white-label multi-site management are central to your work;
The key decision point: do you already have a well-maintained press network? If so, Prezly's model makes sense and is a little cheaper to start with. If not, at Presscloud you pay €9 more per month and get a complete NL/BE database (plus international reach), AI matching and monitoring in return.

  • Prezly's "No" for the journalist database is not necessarily a shortcoming, but an explicit product choice that Prezly argues for itself. So the table partly compares different product types.
  • "Not found (as a core feature)" means: not found in the public product information on the check date; it does not rule out integrations or beta features.
  • Prezly prices are taken from prezly.com/pricing and prezly.com/pricing/agency (July 21, 2026), in euros; VAT status not stated.

Agency plans: Presscloud Agency (€249 / mo) does not charge per client, unlimited companies, database included, white-label. Prezly Agency (€300-450 / mo) charges in 3-5 users and 10-20 sites (10,000-20,000 contacts) with free migration.

The differences explained

Three themes that make the difference

Finding journalists vs. managing relationships

  • With Presscloud you search the database by name, outlet or category, or you let the AI Perslijsten tool do the work.
  • Personalised Pitches writes an opening line for each journalist based on their recent work.
  • With Prezly that find function deliberately does not exist. Powerful for teams that already have their network; less suited as a starting point without press contacts.

Newsrooms and multilingual support

  • Prezly's newsrooms are the heart of the product: multilingual, with automatic translations.
  • White-label and ready to integrate into your own site via the API.
  • Demonstrably stronger for a brand that publishes in ten countries.
  • If you mostly publish in NL & BE, the difference with Presscloud's Newsroom is small in practice.

Agencies: scale per client or per site

  • Presscloud's Agency module does not charge per client: unlimited companies for €249 / mo, white-label and monitoring per client.
  • Prezly Agency charges in sites and users (10 sites/3 users for €300; 20 sites/5 users for €450).
  • A Dutch agency with up to 10 clients? Then Presscloud's Agency model is cheaper.
  • An international agency with premium newsrooms per brand? Then Prezly's model fits better.
Fair is fair: Prezly has a more mature newsroom product with automatic translations and serves customers like IKEA and Sony. But anyone who still has to find journalists, and that goes for most Dutch SMEs and scale-ups, buys a platform from Prezly without the most important raw material. For that group, Presscloud is the more logical choice.

Frequently asked questions

Presscloud vs Prezly: your questions

The journalist database. Prezly deliberately ships none, you bring your own contacts. Presscloud includes 15,000 NL/BE journalists (80,000 worldwide), plus AI that builds press lists from them.
To start with, yes: €120 vs €129 per month (both billed annually; Presscloud excl. VAT, Prezly VAT status not stated). You just buy something different: with Presscloud the database and monitoring are included, with Prezly they are not.
Correct, it is a deliberate choice that Prezly argues for publicly itself. You import your own contacts (5,000-20,000 depending on the plan) or buy lists elsewhere.
Yes, both 14 days, without a credit card or payment details.
Presscloud Agency (€249/mo, unlimited companies, database included) works out well for agencies with many clients in NL/BE. Prezly Agency (€300-450/mo, 10-20 sites) is stronger for international agencies that manage multilingual white-label newsrooms.
Prezly offers coverage tracking and reports; we did not find broad keyword monitoring as a core feature. Presscloud monitors 1-5 keywords within the plan.
Either way you can export and import contacts. Prezly offers a free migration service into Prezly; with Presscloud you import contacts yourself into the PR CRM and try everything free for 14 days first.
